Overcoming Barriers through Quality School Education
Samagra Shiksha is an overarching programme for the school education sector extending from pre-school to class 12. It has been prepared with the broader goal of improving school effectiveness measured in terms of equal opportunities for schooling and equitable learning outcomes.
In the state of Sikkim, the Education Department implements Samagra Shiksha across all 6 districts (Gangtok, Namchi, Gyalshing, Mangan, Pakyong, and Soreng), subsuming the three former schemes of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA), and Teacher Education (TE).
Major Objectives of Samagra Shiksha Sikkim:
Focus on enhancing learning outcomes of students through capacity building of teachers, ICT infrastructure, and modern pedagogy.
Ensuring equity and inclusion at all levels of school education for underprivileged and specially-abled children (CWSN).
Integrating skill education in secondary and senior secondary schools across Sikkim to improve youth employability.
